{"id":2573,"date":"2012-11-20T12:27:48","date_gmt":"2012-11-20T12:27:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sadunya.org\/?p=2573"},"modified":"2019-01-21T14:48:58","modified_gmt":"2019-01-21T14:48:58","slug":"la-clemence-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sadunya.com\/en\/la-clemence-2\/","title":{"rendered":"La Cl\u00e9mence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UmgnmjXsEfM?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>November 20th <strong>was <a title=\"Universal Children's day\" href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/events\/childrenday\/\" target=\"_blank\">Universal Children&#8217;s Day<\/a><\/strong>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to tell you about an elementary school where I have some friends in Dakar, <a title=\"Senegal - Wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Senegal\" target=\"_blank\">Senegal<\/a>. I went to see them and they introduced me to their teacher, Aminata, and I even sat in on a conjugation lesson with the big kids!<!--more--><br \/>\nThe school&#8217;s name is La Cl\u00e9mence, and it&#8217;s in ZAC Mbao, a suburb of Dakar. It was founded in October, 2010 and has both lower grades and upper grades. The students have nice uniforms, I&#8217;d love to have one, too! There are lots of different subjects, even English and Arabic, along with catechism, first aid, computers and technical manual skills. When I was there, the students were drying pieces of cloth they had painted on, on the school&#8217;s roof. They were going to make them into things like bread bags. They were really nice!<br \/>\nThe big kids were very well-behaved and working hard on their lessons. But what I liked best was playing with the little kids \u2013 playing educational games, the teacher said!<br \/>\nAminata, who is also the principal, explained to me that the school&#8217;s goal is to provide a better education to the children of Senegal, especially children in this area that doesn&#8217;t have lots of schools yet. The principal would like to continue developing her school to improve the classes some more by, for example, finding partners or <a title=\"Twinning - Wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Twinning_institutional_building_tool\" target=\"_blank\">twinning<\/a> with a European school.<br \/>\nI spent a terrific day at La Cl\u00e9mence and I&#8217;d love to go back!
